A lovable, more huggable dog you will never find! Balu believes everybody is inherently good, and chooses to love and trust every person he meets, instantly! Such a familiar face at our ABC and Rescue Centre, he was found abandoned outside our shelter gate as a teeny tiny tot with a fractured shoulder, and despite being nurtured back to health and growing up into a strapping young boy, he has been left with a slightly deformed forelimb. Not that this gets in his way at all, and requiring no extra support other than supplements in his food, Balu would do very well as a loving pet.
In the last quarter of 2025, signs of sarcoma appeared, initially as a growth on the soft palate that progressed aggressively. Due to the tumor's location, no intervention was possible, and Balu was managed with pain medication. Despite his condition, he continued to share his warmth and love with everyone he met. On Dec 31, as his condition deteriorated, we made the painful decision to let him go in peace rather than prolong his suffering. Balu stayed alert until the end and left us surrounded by love.
