T he first time you lay eyes on D'Silva, you’ll feel the pull of his charm—there’s something about him that instantly grabs hold of your heart. And once you learn his story, that charm will deepen into an aching mix of sorrow and admiration. D'Silva was abandoned by the only family he ever knew, left to fend for himself on the cold, unforgiving streets. It’s a harsh reminder of the cruelty some humans are capable of, turning their backs on a loyal friend.
The first time we saw him, he was chasing after people, desperately thinking they might be his family. It was heartbreaking—watching him stand on the road, waiting, hoping they would come back for him. The pain D'Silva must have felt in those moments is unimaginable.
But fate had different plans for this sweet soul and the universe wasn’t ready to let him suffer any longer. When we found him, and the moment he saw our team, he leaped straight into their arms and covered them with kisses. That jump—it wasn’t just a leap; it was D'Silva’s way of saying, “I’m ready to trust again.” His fur was tangled, his skin irritated, but even in that state, his spirit was still so full of love. With some tender care and a lot of affection, D'Silva made a full recovery.
Now, he’s ready to share that love with the world. D'Silva is incredibly friendly—he’ll love you to the moon and back without a second thought. He’s amazing with humans and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. One look at his big, floppy ears and those striking blueberry eyes, and you’ll be smitten. He’s a constant source of joy, full of energy and charm, and he’s always ready to make you laugh. His goofy antics will have you in stitches, and his endless affection will warm your heart.
D'Silva is also a true foodie, and while he absolutely adores mealtime, he appreciates a little space while he’s eating. But once he’s had his fill, he’s right back to being your faithful, loving companion. One meeting with D'Silva, and it’s impossible to say no to this sweet, charming boy. He’s ready to bring unlimited love, laughter, and warmth into your life—are you ready to give him the home he’s been waiting for?

Fostering means nurturing the animal in your premises until they can move to a permanent home. This will usually take a few weeks. HAS is offering extended support throughout the foster period.
Foster
The procedure for adopting or fostering an animal from HAS varies from animal to animal and from person to person, but the following steps are always involved one way or the other.
1. Let us know of your interest in whichever way suits you the best.
2. We will arrange for you to visit your preferred animal at their home at the Sanctuary or ABC and Rescue Centre.
3. We will discuss in person with you the practicalities of adopting/fostering an animal.
4. You will ensure that all your family members affected by the adoption/fostering are in agreement, and that they will do their best to promote the interests of the animal.
5. We will do a house visit to ensure that you and the animal would be comfortable living with each other there. If necessary, we will advise on ways to adjust the living quarters to suit the animal.
6. You will pick up the animal from its present location, or, if possible, we will drop the animal at your house.
7. You will bring the animal to the ABC and Rescue Centre for yearly free health check-ups that include vaccinations.
8. Should you experience any problems at any point in the life of the animal, you should never hesitate in contacting HAS.
