E dgar came to us after a tragic traffic accident left his forelimb severely injured. To save him from further suffering, we had to amputate the leg, but we knew this brave and endearing young boy wouldn’t just pull through, he would come out the other side grinning from ear to ear! Then, amid the panic and grim sadness of the COVID-19 pandemic, Edgar found what we all thought would be his forever home, helping to bring some happiness to this challenging period in everyone’s lives. Sadly, it wasn’t to be.
Returning to our care when his family claimed they could no longer look after him, all we could do was comfort poor Edgar and try to build up his trust again.
Since being diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease, for which there is no cure, this loving and gentle soul will now remain under our expert care for as long as he needs us, so that we can minimize his suffering, and give him everything he needs to be happy and pain-free. While this means that adopting him isn’t viable for most people, he is available to be virtually adopted, and by sponsoring his care and medical needs, you can help us alleviate the suffering of other sad souls who need us just as much as Edgar does.
Towards the end of May 2024, Edgar's appetite declined. The blood test revealed advanced kidney insufficiency. He was put on fluid therapy, but his renal values did not improve and he stayed a picky eater. He was maintained on supplements and despite deteriorating health, he stayed alert and content for a few more weeks. On July 20th, as his condition deteriorated further, we decided to put him to sleep. We are grateful to have given him several happy years. May his soul rest in peace!
